Nile has been appointed by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank as their partner to run the Innovation Lab within Studio B.

Studio B is a new type of banking store on Kensington High Street (which makes it worth visiting in itself, especially if you like playing with technology and drinking great coffee). It’s an inspiring and exciting environment, closer to an Apple store than a traditional bank branch, and dedicated to positive disruption.

The Innovation Lab is a unique space inside the store where the general public, B customers, technology partners, experts and charities come together to design and create meaningful services that make everyday life better.

As the Innovation Lab Partner within Studio B, Nile will be planning, coordinating and facilitating innovation in the lab to lead the design process. We love undertaking focussed 5 to 10-day design sprints, they’re fun and realise huge amounts of value in a very short space of time.

We’ll be running two sprints per month on average, creating a body of ideas which customers of B will help us to iterate and develop into concepts the Bank can take forwards.

In short, we’re working on ways to make it possible for the next generation of customers to shape the next generation of banking.

Our methodology is design thinking and creative strategy. The combination of collaborating with expert partners and the public and our team’s collective experience of innovation and proposition development in a wide range of settings will spark exciting new ideas and prototypes.  Our Lab team’s collective experience in financial services, tech companies such as Apple and Google, and outside the sector- healthcare, utilities, public sector, FMCG and travel – means we can bring knowledge from all kinds of sources and cross-pollinate ideas.

Over the next 3 months, we’re planning to bring you relevant updates on our work in the Studio B Lab, specifically to share what we’re learning about establishing and developing a successful innovation lab over time.
