We’re looking for a Client Partner to join the Nile team at a senior or principal level.

Nile is a relationship-driven business, and Client Partners are the first point of contact for many of our clients. Reporting to Kirsty, our Head of Customer Success, you’ll grow and cultivate client relationships, shape and sell work, and support delivery teams to solve problems worth solving.

This role is called ‘Client Partner’ for a reason. We’re not a ‘pitch and forget’ consultancy. We stick around. Client Partners operate as account leads day to day, responsible for managing and growing one or several client accounts and delivering on our promises.

Client partners are strategists, too. You’ll work with the rest of the team to shape and deliver key aspects of our business development work, steer big-picture plans and own various key commercial targets.

And – like everyone in Nile – you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to lead and support internal initiatives, share knowledge, coach others, and shape the Nile experience for everyone.

Important to know first

This is a UK based role. You need permission to live and work in the UK.

Most of the team are based in Edinburgh, but we’ve got more and more team members choosing to work remotely. We get together for work and events regularly, so if you’re a remote worker we’ll invite occasional travel to Edinburgh so we can see you face to face (fully funded and accommodated, obviously).

Whether you’re in Edinburgh or remote, the role will require some travel within the UK. Possibly overseas, too.

As things begin to open up once more, you’ll occasionally need to travel to client offices or locations away from your home location. We work with clients all over the UK (and some in the US and Europe) and know the value of going to where customers are.

But we’re not talking about living in a hotel for weeks at a time; usually you’ll travel for just a couple of days here and there. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with Susie if you want to learn more.

What we offer

About the Client Partner role

You’ll grow the business

  • You’ll be a key member of the team accountable for achieving strategic business & commercial goals in Nile. That means you’ll own various project pipeline activities, develop and manage a pipeline of qualified opportunities, and be responsible for delivering at least £1.5m annual revenue for the company through those accounts you’re responsible for
  • You’ll be a key contributor to our general business strategy development and growth plans, helping us to explore new sectors, new opportunities, and new clients
  • You’ll support our long term planning roadmap, placing the right people, at the right levels to maximise team utilisation
  • You’ll provide market, competitor and project trend insight at all levels
  • You’ll integrate Nile’s culture and values into everything we do, and all the work you shape and sell

You’ll build relationships and accounts

  • You’ll develop strong, credible relationships with key senior client stakeholders. That means understanding their businesses, their challenges, and opportunities for Nile to help them
  • You’ll oversee contact and relationship tracking, making sure current and potential clients are getting what they need from us
  • You’ll manage client expectations throughout the sales cycle and closing process
  • You’ll be in charge of in-flight account management activities to maximise value for clients and Nile
  • You’ll perform project resourcing, invoicing, budgeting, and profitability analysis processes
  • You’ll retain and grow key accounts in line with agreed targets, directing account development and planning
  • You’ll be an ambassador for Nile, running your own network, speaking at events and conferences, and promoting our work and our impact

You’ll improve our practice

  • You’ll cultivate a climate of innovation, helping Nile respond quickly to market changes and novel client needs
  • You’ll support the development of new processes, service lines and initiatives, sharpening and streamlining our toolkit to find new and more efficient ways to deliver value for our clients
  • You’ll work with the rest of the Nile team to scope high profile or high value projects and programmes, providing commercial expertise and support for Nile principals and project leads
  • You’ll make significant contributions to our team culture, account management philosophy, and Client Partner team outcomes

You’ll help shape Nile

  • You’ll be actively involved in all company away days, trips, forums, discussions and learning events, with plenty of opportunity to take ownership of internal initiatives
  • You’ll work one-on-one with a senior Nile coach, shaping your career goals and taking fresh steps in your development
  • You’ll have the opportunity to take on coaching roles for junior members of the team, supporting their career development and goal setting
  • You’ll also join the rest of the team in sharing ongoing market, sector and competitor insight
  • You’ll promote and demonstrate knowledge sharing, good practice, and lessons learned with the team, cultivating a healthy coaching and consulting environment
